Favorite things

A good friend told me that readers love lists. I’m sure he meant things like:
“Best animes 2010-2020”(might read that one)
“Celebrities who didn’t age well” (what’s your business?)
“11 makeup mistakes you’re making”(maybe I want to make them).
“So you ate chocolate cake, five ways to burn it off” (No, it was expensive and I want to keep it)

But as you can see, I’m too cynical when it comes to those. So, I’m going to share some of my favorite things instead. Mainly to be sure I’m not the only one who does them. And to entertain you, of course. Maybe that should be number one. Here we go.

1. Dancing in my house or in my head depending on how energetic I’m feeling. When it’s in my head there’s obviously an adoring crowd involved.

2. Laughing while praying. Most times, I laugh because communicating with God is a lot of fun. Sometimes I laugh because of the relief. Or those awkward fleeting thoughts that have no business in my prayer space (Oh! All those Korean actors wear lipstick). Sometimes, I laugh for no apparent reason.

3. Gisting with mum, my partner, my siblings or my close friends. It’s fun and feels good. I think these people are very interesting. Plus, I get to hear ideas (like how mum would like to improve on pancakes by adding pepper to the batter. This is patented, don’t steal it.)

4. Lip syncing with entirely too much emotion.

5. Writing. Usually things I dispose of later, post, keep for myself or just never open again.

6. Overstretching my back after a long day. I’m serious, one time I almost broke into two.

7. Movies. Especially comedies and SciFi . Who else loves dystopias?.

8. Saying something, laughing at it and then mumbling “That was hilarious”. Because, I’m so funny guys.

9. Passionately criticizing a movie/book to/with someone who gets it. Actually, I’ll even make do with someone who doesn’t. Or a chair.

10. Reading good books. Recent endeavors are…
Master of the game, Sidney Sheldon.
Born a Crime, Trevor Noah. Americanah, Chimamanda Adichie.
The Deep, Rivers Solomon.
The Power of right believing, Joseph Prince.
Everything good will come, Sefi AttahΒ
The Color purple, Alice Walker.
The Art Of Prayer, Kenneth Hagin.
The secret lives of Baba Segi’s wives, Lola Shoneyin
It, Stephen King
Becoming, Michelle Obama
I also read Ellen deGeneres, Tina Fey, Mindy Kalin, Kevin Hart etc. Because I like comedy writers.
PS. Reading ebooks is a great way to make your phone battery last. You’re welcome.

11. Watching funny videos on YouTube. Stand up comedy, TV shows, skits, modelling fails. The funniest one was when another model tried to help and fell too. Or the one who spun and fell into a pool. It’s hard to choose. Sometimes, I rewatch it in slow motion.

12. Music. I may not have a ride. Or the night. But I got audio.

13. Making pancakes. Although I have to admit that I’m a bigger fan of eating them.

14. Self care. Using body spray for no reason. Writing. Unpacking my thoughts and feelings. What can I say, it makes me feel fresh.

I’d go on… But I don’t want to cross the line into full blown narcissism. Feel free to add yours in the comments.

  1. […] control. I rest by having some quiet time daily, taking a day off, praying, doing some of my favorite things. I also find that any posture in which I can put my feet up is pretty restful. I’m doing it […]

Well, let me also put up some few things.

    1. Laughing Heartily Before I send a Voice Note, sticker or Message to a friend on WhatsApp because it’s really hilarious (or maybe I’m the funny one!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚).
    2. The undivided attention that I exhibit when reading Aerospace and Military News, especially when it’s US, India or China related. I doubt if a judge could be more serious!🀣
    3. Me saying “Yes Sir!” to a revelation that was shared by someone (especially Apostle Arome πŸ˜‡πŸ˜ƒ) after realizing that I got the same few days/hours before.
